Install the Terrace Cover The installation of roofs for terraces and verandas falls in the present case concerning the implantation of precarious works, that is, removable, on spaces outside the house, which must in no way be finalized for residential use. Particular attention should be paid if the property falls into confined areas such as historical centers. In this case, prior to installing a roof of a terrace, it is necessary to acquire a preventive opinion of the superintendence of cultural and environmental heritage. In general, however, the coverage of a terrace or veranda is not subject to urban authorization by the municipality and can be carried out immediately after submission of the application, annexed to a report by a technician, together with the payment of an amount of €50.00 per square meter. In order to avoid litigation, in addition, in the case of verandas or terraces belonging to residential buildings, it is indicated to authorize the execution by the condominium assembly. Remember that, in any case, it is necessary to respect the legal distance between the roof structure and the window or the balcony of the neighbor that, for art. 873 of the Civil Code, must be at least 3 meters.
